Our Cats

Mercury and Mischief EARNED their names. Mercury is the smaller of our two cats now although she was the largest and healthiest of the kittens. She was in a word "FAST"!!!! And early on, she gained the ability to leap from floor to counter to top of refrigerator.  Mischief was a sick kitty.  She wouldn't eat properly at first but would tangle herself in the hair at the nape of my neck supposedly looking for mamma's tits.

Would you believe it if I told you these two were sisters. Mercury looks like dad (whoever that was) and Mischief looks like her mother Licorice. Sadly, Licorice passed away last year, but she had some beautiful kittens and they grew up to be Pretty Kitties.

Of course, they have always enjoyed taking naps with each other. I would find them sometimes, in my laundry basket, a rubbermaid garbage barrel, curled up with each other looking like ying and yang.

Mercury ,,^..^~~

Mercury learned early how to rise to great heights. Here she is playing queen of her dominion is the warmest spot of our apartment, atop one of the speakers sitting on our entertainment system.

Mercury is the same colour as my living room furniture. No I didn't plan it that way.

Can you find where the cat ends and the chair begins in the picture below?

Mischief        ,,,^..^,,,

Mischief has this thing about following people around who have food..... especially if it is yogurt or pudding ("Mommy, is this something we both like?", I can almost hear her say in anticipation.) or .... the both of them meow and tangle in my feet if I have ham or seem to be using the can opener for them.

NOW WHAT DID I DO????

Mischief's happiest moments are spent curled up in bed next to me or in any clean laundry basket.  Mischief loves to assert herself as the dominant cat. But that was not always the case......

Mischief is the largest of our cats now...When we adopted them, she was sick, so we asked Sean to leave her alone.... as a result, he concentrated his pestering interests on Mercury.  And even though she lead a tormented kittenhood as a result, she is very much his cat.  Mercury sleeps beside him at night and and even follows him into his bedroom when she knows that it is time and he is going to bed.

I think we'll leave them alone now and let them get another cat nap.
